Forest Management
The Woodland Company
At The Woodland Company, timberland management begins with understanding the goals of each landowner.
Individual financial objectives are considered with cash flow to arrive at a plan that achieves both short and long-term objectives.
The Woodland Company is dedicated to helping each landowner achieve their goals.
To achieve these objectives, The Woodland Company is supported by state-of-the-art technology and hard work.
Our forest management services include:
Forest Management Plans- A Forest Management Plan is a comprehensive written report prepared to guide a landowner and the forester in managing the property to meet the owner's stated objectives. The plan is designed to maximize and balance property benefits, including financial, recreational, aesthetic, and environmental with emphasis on those amenities considered most important to the owner. A forest management plan is a blueprint for property management.
Forest Inventory- The aim of the statistical forest inventory is to provide comprehensive information about the state and dynamics of forests for strategic and management planning. Accurate inventory information is the backbone for forest management decisions. Whether a simple inventory in advance of a timber sale or property appraisal, or the evaluation of a complex transaction involving multiple properties in several wood baskets, good inventory information is a necessity.
Geographic Information Systems- In a nutshell, GIS is a spatial database that contains all the important attributes of a timber stand. This database allows clients to visualize and analyze forest development plans, maintain a timber inventory, evaluate plans and make more effective decisions for transportation planning, valuation, logging strategies, operations, stand management, and data reporting.
Harvest Scheduling- Harvest scheduling is the use of optimization techniques to obtain a temporal sequence of timber harvesting options that will produce the highest net present value of a stand of timber.
Our linear programming model, based on a string of variables and inputs, will forecast each individual stand separately and return a prescription based on our financial criterion. Our advanced modeling capabilities have been used by the largest landowners in the southeast for maximizing their timber portfolios.
Timber Sales- Determining the value of timber requires not only the careful and scientifically conducted measurement of trees, but also the thorough analysis of timber markets and how value will be recognized in the measured timber. We apply equal care to both aspects to achieve the highest price for your timber.
